Portland Thorns FC announced today that they're exercising the one-year option on Marie Müller's contract – now she's set to stay through 2027 in the Rose City.
What happened?
The right back and winger came back this year after tearing her ACL and missing the entire 2025 season. So far, she has one goal in 11 games played. With the extension in her contract, 2027 will be the fourth season Müller will spend with the Thorns.
Why it matters for Portland Thorns FC
President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said: “We are happy to have Marie remain in Portland after demonstrating incredible resilience to come back from injury and contributing to the strong start we have had this season.” She has been a huge part of our success in building a championship-caliber team and we look forward to her continued impact as a member of the Portland Thorns.
What comes next?
Added to that, the German made her debut with her national team in June, helping them to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scoring a goal in her international debut. Müller's extension is a significant boost to the Thorns' title hopes. The team will look to build on their strong start to the season with Müller's continued contributions.
